You want your teeth straightened but you are not interested in having brackets and wires on your teeth. Well, we have good news for you. Invisalign is a system of invisible braces. Not only can you be more comfortable (no sharp brackets to irritate your cheeks or tongue) but no one will be able to tell you’re wearing braces. And you can take them out to eat.
Did you know that brackets on your teeth trap food particles and bacteria? If you’re not careful, your teeth can be etched with permanent spots because of the trapped food. This doesn’t happen with Invisalign.
Invisalign involves wearing a series of clear plastic aligners, as pictured above, that push your teeth into positions where they are straight. The aligners are invisible to people at a conversational distance.
Invisalign Procedure
After a thorough examination and analysis of your teeth alignment, bite, gums, and bone health, we simply take an impression of your teeth. A laboratory with a sophisticated computer system then translates Dr. Goldstein’s instructions into a three-dimensional plan for moving your teeth step by step. Every two weeks you insert a new series of aligners. When you’re through with the last set of aligners, your teeth are straight!
Another advantage to Invisalign is that since your tooth movements are planned by computer, they are much more efficient than manually adjusted braces. Treatment times thus are about half of what conventional braces take. Few cases take longer than twelve months. Often, treatment can be complete in six months.
Dr. Jay Goldstein, cosmetic dentist in the Cleveland suburb of Beachwood, Ohio, is certified to provide Invisalign invisible braces.
